Dear Trey, I’ve been hearing about you for months now. I’ve never met you, and I really know very little about you. I know you like sports :). Honestly, if you had never had cancer and been through all this, I wouldn’t have thought you were an interesting person at all, and you probably wouldn’t have looked twice at me. But you were strong. You were brave. You affected so many lives. And I’m so glad you’re home. When I meet you someday, it will be in a place where it won’t matter that I’m the freaky weird girl that dropped out of school and never wore makeup and you were the preppy sports fan. I will embrace you and I will love you and we will praise our sweet Jesus for the rest of forever. Rest in peace my sweet brother.

For months, the entire city of memphis has been praying for trey, a teenager diagnosed with cancer. Months have gone by, and every teenager in memphis knew the phrase “Pray for Trey.” Today, his time came, and I just want him to have the proper recognition.

No teenager, or anyone really, should have to go through such a challenge, and even worse, no parent should have to lose their child.

Cancer is real, and it does change, and sometimes take, lives. Please pray for Trey’s family as their month-long struggle has finally led to this tragedy. And if you are not a Christian, please just keep this cancer awareness in mind.
